Loot

Season 12 of Apex Legends could be the greatest yet, especially with fan-favorite map Olympus making its return to the game. However, things have changed drastically for the arena in the sky.

With players going back to Olympus all isn't the same since the last time we've been here.

So, we're going to run over all the changes and how you can master Olympus in Season 12!

High Tier Loot Area: Phase Driver

Located within the southern area of Olympus, the Phase Driver point of interest (POI) is an opportunity for great skirmishes. A malfunction has occurred in the driver, meaning you’ll have the chance to encounter a damaged, debris-riddled version of the area. This could seriously alter how squads anticipate each other's movements, as the debris changes the available tactics.

Phase Driver remains an excellent area to gain high-tier loot from the get-go, granting an edge to anyone who survives the initial fights there. Players can still interact with the Phase Driver, despite its unstable state. Once activated, you’ll have a chance to acquire Gold Tier loot, at the risk of alerting enemies to your location.

Phase Driver is an incredibly open area, so make sure you coordinate with your teammates. It’s also now connected to various locations around the map, which makes a clean getaway far easier to achieve. Expect these escape routes to be full of rival players, however.

Terminal Brings It All Together

Developer Respawn Entertainment describes Terminal as: “a large interior POI that acts as a new central routing area for the map. With 5 entry points and exterior elevated platforms, Terminal’s presence and effect on the surrounding area will change the way players flow and engage in the open areas around Labs and Bonsai Plaza.”

While not as open as Phase Driver, this POI is still susceptible to third-party engagements, so keep your wits about you.

Quality Of Life Improvements

To further improve the flow of Olympus matches, Respawn has included some neat alterations with the map’s return:

  • Areas such as the crane arm at South West of Rift have been blocked off to stop players from getting unfair elevation.
  • Zip-Lines have been scattered around the map to help players in a pinch escape pursuers and avoid choke points.
  • New loot bins are available at Oasis, on the East side of the POI. This allows players to spread out rather than fight for three standard loot bins.

Shifting The Arena Around

To accommodate the arrival of new POIs, Respawn has redesigned the layout of Olympus to preserve the flow of combat. Now, areas such as Icarus, Solar Array, and Bonsai Plaza have been shifted to suit the map’s redesign.

The Northeast area of Olympus has seen new improvements too, which should avoid irritating choke points clogging combat. You’ll find a new entrance that connects the Turbine to Rift.

You’ll also be able to find a new ramp added to Grow Trowers, which will help less mobile Legends find elevation in challenging shootouts.
