Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Season 6 is now live!

Despite a lot of attention falling on Vanguard, fans of the series are still interested in what the current game has to offer in what will be the final season.

As we reach the climax of the Cold War cinematic story, which appears to send ripples across Verdansk, we will see the return of Alex Mason. We're also being treated to a brand-new Zombies map - 'Forsaken'.

Here's everything we know about Season 6 of Cold War and Warzone.

Release Date

According to the in-game battle pass, the current season is set to conclude on October 7th, 2021 meaning this is when Season 6 will go live.

New seasons are a great time for players to dive back into the game, as there's usually an ample amount of new content within the game for players to check out.

This should be the case yet again, when Season 6 of BOCW and Warzone premiers worldwide, and those looking to know exactly when it release are in luck.

This of course, is barring any delays from Activision-Blizzard, but we'll have to wait and see.

UI, UX And More

Regiments

  • Regiments are now frozen to ensure a smooth transition over to the new Clan-based system, coming later this year.
    • Players will now only be able to view their Regiment Roster and inspect other Players.
    • Players will no longer be able to create, manage, switch or invite others, use Regiment Tags, or receive Happy Hour rewards.
  • Loot Cards
    • The visual style of all loot cards has been updated!
    • In addition to this change, we've added information about the fire type of a Weapon to each loot card.
      • This will allow Players to observe if a Weapon is automatic, semi-automatic, or burst before committing to it, without having to fire test shots or lose their next engagement.

Accessibility

  • Killfeed (Time On Screen)
    • Added an option under the Accessibility menu to customize the amount of time that messages in the Killfeed stay on screen. This option is intended to support Hard of Vision, Hard of Hearing, and Cognitive Overload accessibility.
    • The setting has 5 options:
      • Off: Never show updates
      • Default: Updates show for 10 seconds
      • Medium: Updates show for 20 seconds
      • Long: Updates show for 30 seconds
      • Extended: Updates show for 60 seconds
      • Note: This will not affect the duration of disconnect notifications.

Mono Audio

    • Added an option under the Audio menu to adjust the degree to which the Mono Audio is applied when enabled.
    • The setting is adjusted via a slider:
      • A higher value merges sounds and sends them through left and right speakers in similar proportions.
      • A lower value reduces the applied effect and preserves directional sound.

Battle Pass

Like any new season of CoD, there's going to be a brand new Battle Pass for both Warzone and Black Ops Cold War.

Typically within these battle passes are a wide array of skins, weapon camos, emotes, COD Points and more.

All content is free, but the Battle Pass will run the player around 1000 COD Points, which is roughly $10 USD and we've seen some incredible battle passes over the last year. If you don't wish to pay for the Battle Pass, some content in the Pass will be free including two new weapons.

The featured Operator will be Alex Mason.

The .410 Ironhide shotgun will be unlocked at tier 15 and GRAV AR will be unlocked at tier 31.

Old Verdansk Stadium is wrecked due to the man-made earthquake, which sent the cranes towering above down onto the construction zone and soccer pitch. Fortunately, a new stadium was already planned for the site, but for now in ’84, expect greater maneuverability across all levels of this location, including within the cracks of the earth.

Southwest of the Stadium, Downtown is a chaotic mess as buildings topple into the fissure. Reports from the ground indicate a marquee Hotel and several buildings in the vicinity have been destroyed in the blasts. For Tier One Operators, expect less verticality in this notorious part of town, as well as some additional areas to explore…

Hidden beneath Verdansk’s surface — long before the “original Verdansk bunkers” you may have explored previously — was an underground system of passageways and armaments rooms. These old German war bunkers have been barricaded off since the war’s end.

After Adler discovered the existence of these relics from a bygone era, he drilled down through the surface to plant seismic charges to set off a greater explosion. Their mysterious nature hints at what will come following Vanguard’s launch…

Ready to relive your first Gulag duels? Season Six’s Gulag is inspired by the original trio of 1v1 maps within the Verdansk of 2019, and based on the Modern Warfare® Gunfight map variant. This takes place in an undisclosed and sectioned-off level of the deep Zordaya Prison Complex.

Regiments will also be frozen, in preparation to transition it towards a new and more rewarding Clan system based around playing with your friends and fellow community members.

Zombies

The final round-based Zombies map to conclude the opening chapter of the Dark Aether story is called 'Forsaken'.

It's beleived the Forsaken is the big final boss and a potential dragon/reptile.

As fans have learned in the latest Intel throughout Season Five, Requiem’s Director has plans for Samantha Maxis, employing unorthodox methods to “help” her understand the powers she has developed during her time in the Dark Aether. Requiem and Omega have embarked upon rival operations to extract Sergeant Kazimir Zykov from the Dark Aether, believing this “lost Russian” – the Soviet soldier who closed the portal at Projekt Endstation – will be the key to preventing a destructive force from entering our world.

And now, Omega defector Sergei Ravenov has provided Requiem with intelligence detailing a massive new Aetherial portal being constructed in western Ukraine...

With Agent Maxis understanding the path ahead of her – and her own role in determining the fate of our dimension – the stakes couldn’t possibly be higher.

In “Mauer der Toten,” Requiem’s elite strike team stopped Doctor Aleksandra Valentina from unleashing an undead army into our dimension, narrowly escaping Omega Group’s clutches thanks to Samantha Maxis and her newfound powers.

In “Forsaken,” the final round-based map in Black Ops Cold War Zombies, the team is ready to finish the fight at the heart of Omega Group: a secret test site in the U.S.S.R. that threatens to invite an even greater supernatural threat into the world. Behind the scenes, Requiem’s secretive Director makes the call to approve Maxis for “Operation First Domino” as Requiem and Omega prepare for the final showdown.

New Features

After downing a bottle of PhD Slider, the tenth and final Zombies Perk in Black Ops Cold War, an Operator can take advantage of the following effects:

  • Base ability – Sliding into enemies triggers an explosion. The size and damage increase the farther you slide before impact.

  • Skill Tier II – Increased slide duration.
  • Skill Tier III – Immunity to self-inflicted explosive damage.

This Perk turns you into a living weapon that grows even more deadly as you invest Aetherium Crystals into its Skills Tiers, which feature full immunity to self-inflicted explosive damage, the ability to trigger an explosive payload after falling from a vertical distance, and more.

The ultimate tool for splitting Zombies like wood, the Chrysalax can be discovered in “Forsaken” as part of its own quest, through completing Trials, or by trying your luck at the Mystery Box.

Forged in the Dark Aether, there is more to this Wonder Weapon than what appears on its surface, boasting the ability to convert between a powerful battle axe and a rapid-fire energy weapon.

The Aether Remote-Controlled Explosive Device (ARC-XD) is an advanced Support Weapon fitted with an Aetherium Crystal that acts as a decoy, emitting a sound to draw enemy attention. The ARC-XD will continually pulse a small Aether blast that can kill normal enemies and launch them on contact. It is capable of fitting through tight crawl spaces, yet powerful enough to send a group of undead soldiers back to their graves.

Originally found as a hidden weapon in the Campaign and introduced to Multiplayer in Season Four, the Hand Cannon joins Zombies as one of Season Six’s Support Weapons. Hindered only by a strong vertical kick and slow rate of fire, the Hand Cannon can blast away zombies with ease, especially Special and Elite enemies with precision shots.

Onslaught will also get a new map called Deprogram.

In the Season 5 ending cinematic trailer, Hudson is seen telling Woods to get Mason. It's confirmed that Alex Mason will finally arrive as a playable Operator and will be the featured Operator for the new Battle Pass.

Deprogram (6v6 - Launch)

During Adler’s interrogation and deprogramming, memories from his convoluted past come to life as a warped combat arena in Deprogram. Here, you’ll pass through Red Doors as the fight rages on throughout Adler’s broken mind.

Each part of this map is a fragment of Adler’s memories, stitched together to form one of the most unique map experiences ever seen in Call of Duty. The Red Doors found throughout Deprogram can be used to quickly traverse the map, which may lead to power positions over objectives or be used for four-dimensional plays that can help you outsmart opponents.

Amerika (6v6, Launch)

Take the war to a Soviet recreation of an American Main Street in Season Six’s next 6v6 map, Amerika.

A secret military facility in the heart of the U.S.S.R., this medium-sized map will have you fighting through a replica of a town that includes a pizzeria, theater, and a Burger Town mock-up. Maneuver through these buildings for close-quarter battles, and watch out for long-range weaponry that is sure to lock down the block.

Gluboko (2v2 and 3v3, Launch)

Taking place in the underground vault of the KGB headquarters, Gluboko serves as the newest map where Operators can battle in Gunfight and Face Off variants, including Face Off 6v6.
