The 2021 League of Legends competitive season is reached its climax as the World Championship has come to an end. Twenty-four teams from across the globe came together in Reykjavík, Iceland from October 5th to November 6th to stake their claim on the $2,225,000 prize pool and international glory.

Dates And Schedule

The competition will take place in Reykjavík, Iceland, runing for one month:

  • Play-In Round 1: October 5th-7th
  • Play-In Round 2: October 8th-9th
  • Group Stage: October 11-13th and 15th-18th
  • Playoffs: October 22nd-25th and 30th-31st
  • Final: November 6th
Play-In Stage

The tournament begins October 5th to 9th with the Play-In Stage where 10 teams face off against each other in a best of 1, round robin format in order to join the 12 top seeded teams in the main event. The top team from each play-in group will advance while the 2nd - 4th place teams battle it out in a best of 5 knockout stage in order to qualify. Two winners will make it out while the other four are eliminated.

Group Stage

With the qualifying 16 teams locked in, the Main Event group stage officially begins from October 11th to the 19th. The teams are drawn into 4 groups (A - D) and will play each other in a best of 1, double round robin format. The pressure is on to place in the top 2 of your group because the bottom 2 are eliminated from the tournament while the remaining 8 move to playoffs.

The playoff bracket is drawn randomly with the 1st place teams from each group playing against the 2nd place teams. These games still start on October 22nd to the 31st and all matches from here on out are best of 5. All this culminates with the two best teams fighting head to head in the finals on November 6th.
