Alpha, Bravo, Charlie
From the past few Call of Duty titles, players have come accustomed to an Alpha.
The Alpha is an early opportunity for players to get to grips with the latest Call of Duty multiplayer and provide valuable feedback to the dev team.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is expected to be this year's title and many are wondering what the plans are for pre-release testing.
Here's what we know about the Call of Duty: Vanguard Alpha.
We can expect an Alpha to arrive this weekend 27th-29th September 2021.
Tom Henderson has confirmed that the Alpha is "about a month away".
The 2v2 Gunfight Alpha for Modern Warfare released in mid-August, while the Cold War multiplayer Alpha released in mid-September.
Cold War's later release was likely due to the nature of the development cycle having issues and thus needing to delay the Alpha.
Every single PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owner will be able to participate in the Call of Duty: Vanguard PlayStation Alpha, featuring Sledgehammer Games’ innovative new game mode known as Champion Hill.
You are encouraged — to explore reactive environments across the four maps within Champion Hill, breaking destructible barriers, doors, and other obstructions to create new sightlines or catch a would-be camper by surprise.
Champion Hill s a tournament-style, multi-map and multi-life game mode where tactics and strategy go beyond the pull of a trigger.
Everyone starts with the same Loadout, and while it can be lethal, collecting Cash — earned by taking enemy lives and picking up drops scattered around the map — will allow you to upgrade your starting weapons and purchase new armaments, equipment, Perks, and Killstreaks during Buy Rounds that happen between Combat Rounds.
Champion Hill also takes place on one large map split up into five sections. Specifically, there is a central Buy Station Area and four arenas for Combat Rounds: the Airstrip, the Trainyard, the Market, and the Courtyard. Once you are eliminated, you can watch how the tournament ends from the Buy Station Area spectator platform, but ideally, you survive long enough to see victory for yourself.
How To Get Into The Alpha
To get into the Alpha, you don't need to do anything specific.
The Alpha will most likely be available to PlayStation users - as this has been the case for the past two years.
Becuase of Sony's exclusivity deal with Call of Duty, the Alpha has only been available to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users.
When it goes live, you will simply need to download it from the PlayStation store.
Some select users, mainly influencers and streamers, will often be able to get access to the Alpha a few weeks prior to test it out.
